What the numbers mean
Words are sequences of letters or numbers, including common apostrophes within a word. Characters are Unicode code points, including spaces and line breaks; some emoji contain several code points. Paragraphs are non-empty blocks separated by a blank line. Estimated reading time uses 200 words per minute and rounds up to a whole minute.
Before you tidy
Tidy spacing trims line edges, reduces repeated spaces and limits runs of blank lines. It does not rewrite or check facts. Keep an original copy if spacing is meaningful. Inputs are limited to 250,000 characters to keep the page responsive.
Keep a copy
Copy text uses your browser’s clipboard permission when you press the button. If it is unavailable, select and copy the text yourself. Nothing is saved when you close or reload the page.
